The varicophlebitis is inflammation of a varicose vein (those swollen, twisted, painful veins in which blood has accumulated more than usual). The diagnosis of this disease is simple and fast as it is based on the presence of pain, induration and purple in the vein. Treatment should be for pain and inflammation and prevent new phlebitis occur in the future. Specialists will advise on immobilization, apply compresses twice a day for half an hour and taking anti-inflammatory to reduce swelling. In those cases where also there is indicated infection taking antibiotics.
