Treatment with morphine
Treatment with morphine reduces pain intensity and is indicated for acute phases of crisis, chronic cases of oncological diseases or postoperative processes. These medications have a powerful calming effects but can also have some serious side effects such as drowsiness, impaired judgment, decreased reflexes and constipation, among others. They can lead to dependence if administered over a prolonged period of time. However, the balance between benefits, risks and drawbacks is uncertain because of the lack of data on its efficacy and long term safety, and physical and psychological dependence lead. In any case, this treatment should only be administered under medical prescription.
