Presbyopia , more commonly known as a tired eye, is the difficulty in seeing up close that it occurs through a process of aging of the lens that manifests itself from the age of 40 years.
Causes of presbyopia or tired sight
The tired eye appears with the age because it is lost the capacity of accommodation of the crystalline, presenting difficulty to approach near objects.
Treatment of presbyopia or tired sight
The treatment of presbyopia must be individualized and depends on the needs of each patient.
It can be corrected with the use of glasses, and by surgery, technique that allows to have independence of the contact lenses.
At the moment it is the operation that I realize with more frequency, since it is the most demanded by the patients. The excellent results obtained (thanks to the perfection of the technique and the intraocular lenses) and the fast recovery make that every day more patients come to consultation requesting a solution for their tired eye problem.
Patients with tired eyesight are a very active phase of life and do not want to have the discomfort of wearing glasses continuously. They want to work and perform their social and leisure activities without depending on contact lenses.
Presbyopia or tired eye surgery
Presbyopia surgery involves several techniques, such as:
- IntraLasik, Laser surgery on the cornea for presbyopia.
- Crystalline exchange surgery for an intraocular lens with extended or trifocal focus. This technique has been shown to be effective and safe, with definitive results in the treatment of presbyopia and cataracts, presenting a great improvement in the quality of life of patients operated on. Vision with this type of lens is the closest thing to vision in youth.
The choice of surgical technique depends on the age of the patient, the refractive defect and the condition of the lens.
In both techniques the surgery is ambulatory, painless, with topical anesthesia through drops, and with rapid recovery of visual acuity.
Postoperative surgery of presbyopia or tired sight
The postoperative consists of the use of antibiotic and anti-inflammatory drops for several weeks. The discomforts are minimal, being able to carry out a normal life with immediate reincorporation to the daily activities.
By means of these techniques, other present refractive defects, such as myopia, farsightedness and astigmatism can be corrected, obtaining a high visual quality and sharpness in the vision of far, intermediate and near independently of the use of spectacles and improving the quality of life of the Patients.
