What is the importance of bringing teens to the consultation?
More and more mothers who ask us consulting Gynecology , a daughter, when to take her to the gynecologist to its first review. Really, a girl has to come to the Gynecological when it begins to maintain relations and obviously before if you have any type of problem with the rule.
Unit Gynecology Adolescent we have created basically for different things: first, to inform girls about healthy sexuality, how they can start to have sex, when to keep, which contraceptive method is right, how should prevent pregnancy, but, much more important today, prevent sexually transmitted diseases, HPV infection, all diseases that can be transmitted by a protected bad relationships.
What are the main problems?
One of the main reasons why girls come to the consultation, the consultation adolescents, is the rule disorders. Or irregular rules, rules that do not come every month, or a month stain several times, period of time without the rule, more than two or three months, bleeding with the rule, rules abundant, that leave very tired , very upset.
Androgyny problems, problems of hair, acne, is another reason that we also have to look. Delays or advances of puberty, a menarche, the first rule to come early or take a long time to come.
We must find changes that are occurring. Therefore, this same unit is connected to other specialties such as pediatrics, such as Endocrinology, Neurology, because there are many changes related to the female menstrual cycle with other involvement with other pathologies: thyroid, diabetes, why not?
Another reason why you may come to the consultation are alterations in breast development, either by excess or by default, asymmetries, vulvar pathology, infections and abdominal pain to look for a gynecological reason.
