Dr. Mª José Villares has more than 22 years as Head of the Unit Medical Aesthetics that bears his name in the Corachán Barcelona Clinic and talks about their lifestyle medicine and treat their patients.
Dr.. Villares, how you define as professional aesthetic medicine, the effects of time
It is difficult to assume joyfully the effects of aging on your skin, and accept them as they come naturally. Before entering consulting, my patients fill out a short questionnaire. The questions are not only health but ask you to inform me of their food, toxic, drug habits and especially about their status and emotional control. We all go through different stages of life, but each have a different way of responding emotionally to what we live. Our cellular aging has a lot to do with how we have or have had to control our emotions.
How do you approach each case?
When you start any treatment I take a picture of "before". I call this picture the image of the first stage of life. Sometimes this may reflect fatigue, discouragement and bitterness. It is a stage in which we want to clean slate. Photo "after" treatment reflects light, life, enthusiasm and desire to "give joy to the years". This is the image of the "second chance" that turns out to be a positive good face to face with confidence the challenges and new stage reinforcement.
And in each case a technique?
It is very important to combine all the techniques Aesthetic Medicine offers (less invasive): generators collagen and minihilos for sagging, small doses of vitamins and Platelet Rich Plasma, application of botulinum toxin in points that soften the features hard, dark circles and sift application deposits of hyaluronic acid or polylactic acid to highlight the features. You have to look at the face as a whole, always fleeing the faces of "wax doll" we sometimes see on the street. As a professional of over twenty years of experience, I believe that the important thing is to make the best of each, showing a natural result, serene and elegant, always according to biological age and personality of each. So I think the Aesthetic Medicine allows us to "give joy to the years" if exercised in a balanced manner, with wisdom and common sense, like any other profession.
