Ending chronic pain
Written by:The pain techniques are those that aim to combat chronic pain , that is, the one that persists for more than three months and is not relieved by the usual treatments recommended by the family doctor or by the specialist in question.. It is very important not to let ' chronify' the pain, since then it becomes more difficult to treat it. From the Pain Clinic of Teknon Medical Center we assess pain and establish a specific treatment for each patient, whether pharmacological, interventionist or a combination of both. Likewise, when we consider it necessary, we consult with several specialist doctors (rheumatologist, traumatologist, neurosurgeon, psychologist or acupuncturist) to achieve a multidisciplinary therapeutic approach.
Chronic pain is a symptom related to degenerative diseases, so it affects more frequently patients over 50 years. Due to its origin, the treatment is complex and requires an approach with different treatment modalities, be they pharmacological, infiltrations and blockages, psychological and complementary therapies, such as acupuncture.
Last treatments
In reference to the pharmacological treatment , the physicians of the pain clinic have an extensive knowledge of the new drugs as well as of the current clinical guidelines, since each day new drugs appear more specific and with less side effects.
Regarding interventions, we have various techniques such as the "rational" application of radiofrequency, the implantation of stimulation systems or the use of new preparations to be used in infiltrations. We also extract and process the patient's own blood for the purpose of treating chronic inflammation as a result of degenerative diseases. In this way, we have strengthened the other therapeutic approaches, such as psychological support and biofeedback , acupuncture and homeopathy .
