Keratitis is an inflammation of the cornea (front of the eye, in front of the pupil and iris). They are usually easy to cure without sequelae, although sometimes may affect deeper layers of the cornea and cause ulcers, which can be serious. The main symptoms are severe pain in the eye, redness of the anterior pole, tearing and photophobia.
