Forensic doctos

Specialists in Forensic Medicine are responsible for examining the various injuries that a person can suffer, whether due to an accident, aggression or disability. The different areas included within this speciality are: • Legal clinical medicine. The medical examination of a living person is used to evaluate the damage caused by an aggressor to the bodily integrity of said person. • Forensic pathology. The purpose of this is to identify a deceased victim so as to carry out the subsequent corresponding procedures in situations where the death was violent or suspicious. The extracted evidence will help the investigator to identify the person. • Forensic psychiatry and psychology. This serves to determine the imputability of the suspect, the mental disorders which the aggressor caused the victim and the reasons behind the crime. • Forensic dentistry. Dental analysis serves to specify which injuries occurred in the mouth. Furthermore, teeth can be used to determine the age and identification of the deceased. • Forensic anthropology. This studies bone remains in order to identify the deceased person and, in some cases, even to restore and reconstruct the body. The age of the victim can also be determined thanks to the bones. • Forensic histopathology. This involves deeper investigation. A microscope is used to analyse the cells and tissues of the body, in order to uncover the presence or development of pathological processes which can be used for evidence.
