Oral cancer is played more frequently on the lips or tongue, but can also manifest in the lining of cheeks, floor of the mouth, gums or palate. In most cases the called squamous cell carcinoma, which tend to expand rapidly occurs. Substances such as snuff or excess alcohol consumption are associated with most cases of oral cancer factors. Other causative factors for oral cancer include chronic irritation due to the human papillomavirus (HPV) infection, intake of drugs that weaken the immune system or poor oral and dental hygiene. Men over 40 are the most affected by this disease. Treatment consists of surgical removal of the tumor, in the case of small dimensions, and the application of radiotherapy or chemotherapy for those with larger tumors.
