Specialty of Gastroenterology

The gastroscopy is a test that is performed through an endoscope ready to be introduced by the digestive system. An endoscope is a thin, flexible tube with a tiny camera on the end, and in some cases a light, which aims to obtain images of the inside of the esophagus, stomach and dudodeno. Because this test can be somewhat annoying, prior to its realization sedation is applied to the patient. Then, to perform the endoscopic gastrointestinal endoscopy tube through the mouth is introduced and it drives along the digestive tract to analyze their status or the presence of diseases minutely. In addition, the gastroscope allows various interventions, such as obtaining tissue samples for biopsy, the extirpation of polyps, etc. Anyway, gastroscopy has side effects that can be mild (such as abdominal pain or burning ) or severe, such as the drilling of some organs, bleeding, infection and possible allergic reactions.
