Minor surgery is one that encompasses the simple surgical procedures and they usually have short duration. They are performed in superficial tissues and / or easily accessible structures, and under local anesthesia. Interventions are generally low risk and with no significant postoperative complications are expected. Minor surgery reduces the rate of referral to specialty care. Examples include different types of suture, cutting and dissection; skin wounds, removal of cysts and infiltration anesthetic.
