Parathyroid glands Surgery
The surgery of the parathyroid glands is the partial or total removal of the parathyroid glands near the thyroid. The minimally invasive surgery can be performed by standard surgery or through an incision in the neck. Traditionally, the surgical procedure involved intervention and treatment of disease, however, new techniques currently exist that are minimally invasive and are performed through cervicoscopy. The procedure is as follows: the pathological lesion identified, removed through techniques that identify the hormone in blood and other tests that locate the tissue, such as cervical ultrasound and scintigraphy. Through a small incision of about 10 or 15 mm camera of 5 mm is inserted into the lesion and helps surgeons to perform the operation, and that displays the details of the treatment area through a monitor connected to the camera.
