Breast augmentation

Breast augmentation or mammoplasty, better known as breast augmentation, is a surgical procedure aimed at improving the size and volume of the breasts. Usually, breast implant surgery is recommended both to correct asymmetry between the breasts and to make them more attractive. The breast augmentation operation is performed through a small incision made, depending on the patient's anatomy, around the areola of the nipple, in the groove below the chest or under the armpit. Through the incisions of each breast, the breast tissue is lifted and the mammary prostheses are inserted, directly under the breast tissue or under the pectoral muscle. These implants can be silicone or saline and in various forms, usually rounded, oval or anatomical. Currently, there are also prosthetics with rough texture on the surface to provide a more natural appearance. The results of the breast augmentation intervention are very satisfactory and the scar of the incision is virtually invisible. A secondary breast surgery or secondary breast augmentation may be necessary over time. However, the need for a second intervention is becoming less frequent.
