Amyloidosis is a disorder in which abnormal proteins build up in organs and tissues and these are diminished their ability to work properly. Its cause is unknown, usually related to excessive production of antibodies by plasma cells. The symptoms always depend on the affected organs. The disease can affect the muscles, tongue, intestines, heart, liver, spleen and kidneys.
