Es una organización médica pionera en España que traslada modelos implantados exitosamente en países como Estados Unidos.
IOB - Institute of Oncology fue fundado por el Dr. José Baselga quien, a lo largo de su trayectoria, ha recibido multitud de premios, entre los que destacan haber sido elegido miembro de la American Society for Clinical Investigation y alumno distinguido del Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center en el año 2004. En el 2009, la Asociación Americana para la Investigación del Cáncer lo designó miembro del consejo director.
