El Instituto de Otología García-Ibáñez es un centro de referencia a nivel internacional. Son expertos en implantes cocleares dedicados a la reparación quirúrgica y rehabilitación de las personas con sordera profunda. Son pioneros en intervenciones quirúrgicas. En el año 1946 realizaron la primera operación a un paciente sordo, en 1985 el primer implante coclear monocanal y en 1989 de varios canales. El último hito, en 2006, fue el primer dispositivo totalmente implantable del oído medio.
