The foam is obtained by transforming with simple means to a liquid drug called sclerosing foam. This foam is inserted into the diseased veins in order to make them disappear. With this type of sclerosing drug contact surface with the inner wall of the vein and its duration of action and chemical action increases. This treatment should be monitored by Doppler ultrasound.
The main indication for treatment with foam are varicose veins of the lower limbs, in any of its clinical degrees, varices of small, medium or large caliber.
Benefits of treatment with foam
The advantages over other techniques are obvious: this is done in consultation, without having to undergo surgery and there is little or no bother. The patient can perform throughout treatment a normal life, without needing rest or interrupt their daily and work activities. In addition, there is no contraindication for use in patients taking anticoagulants.
The clinical results are very good, although it is a chronic disease, it is likely that the patient should receive sessions with foam added in the future as a result of the maintenance of initial treatment.
Risks of treatment with foam
Although serious complications are rare, they are very frequent bruising and indurated routes. There are very few contraindications to treatment: pregnancy, active infections, cancer, hormonal and predisposing to thrombosis treatments, drug allergies, etc.
