embryo transfer

Embryo transfer is the last step of In Vitro Fertilization or ICSI. Finally after having passed, a whole "obstacle course", from the ovarian stimulation, the echographic controls, the recovery of the ovules, its In Vitro Fertilization (IVF), until finally the embryo or the obtained embryos are deposited in the interior of the uterine cavity.

Embryo transfer is, without a doubt, the most important and exciting moment of all assisted reproduction treatments. For the patient the procedure is not painful and does not require anesthesia , it is comparable to a cytology both for the gynecological position and for the speculum. At FIVMadrid we always carry out the transfer under ultrasound guidance, which allows the doctor and the patient to directly visualize the embryos at each moment of the catheter.

Between the embryo transfer and the pregnancy test, fifteen days must pass. These two weeks of waiting are described as the most harrowing moment of the whole process of In Vitro Fertilization. The expectation of getting pregnant is high and the biggest concern for women is not to spoil everything, not make mistakes that could compromise implantation.

The most frequent questions they ask us are : Can I do something to help the implantation of the embryo? How many days of rest is better to do? If I do absolute bed rest all these days, can it increase my chance of pregnancy? To all these questions there is only one answer: "Relax, calm down, enjoy every day, go for a walk and make your normal life". All this if that can influence positively.

Do not forget that women who do not have fertility problems and conceive spontaneously, do not know exactly when they have become pregnant, so they do not perform any kind of rest or limit their daily activities. Likewise, after the embryo transfer it is not necessary to limit the daily activity unless an excessive physical effort is carried out constantly.

The relative rest of 2-3 days post-transfer can have a positive impact because the woman spends more time on herself, relaxes, is with her partner, tries to create a favorable environment, without stress and thus help the embryo to implant. For all this is why we recommend it in FIVMadrid .
