Recommendations and risks of rhinoplasty

Rhinoplasty not only aims to improve the aesthetic appearance of the nose in a completely natural way and without signs of having been operated, it should also improve the respiratory and olfactory function when they are altered.

Recommendations rhinoplasty

The bone and cartilage are tissues that can be easily modified, both to eliminate excess volume to correct a defect by placing grafts taken during the same surgery.

There inconspicuous aesthetic alterations which can be corrected with minor surgery under local anesthesia, especially in the nasal tip. Others, however, require more complex interventions under general anesthesia. It is hard to recommend this surgery to a slight cosmetic defect.

Risks of Rhinoplasty

The risks of rhinoplasty are common to any surgery, cosmetic or not (bleeding, infection, anesthetic problems, etc.) in addition to the inherent to the rhinoplasty, as poor cosmesis or impaired nasal breathing.

Fortunately, in the hands of a plastic surgeon expert with a good anesthesiologist and clinic first level the risk of complications is extremely low.

Postoperative Rhinoplasty

The patient has to wear a thermoplastic splint for 5 days, at which points are also removed from the external incision in the nasal columella.

For my part, I never put internal blockages since it is an outdated technique that gets worse after surgery.

The patient should keep in mind that some degree of bruising and swelling around the eyelids that can take 7 to 10 days to disappear appear.
