The sports pre-participation medical examination should be mandatory in every recreational athlete periodically, as well as in any professional or non-professional athlete with high demands at the start of each season of activity. The fact of carrying out said previous study would allow to avoid injuries during the exercise.
Tests of sports medical recognition according to the level of the athlete
The sports medical examination should include different tests, which will be made more complete progressively depending on the level and degree of exigency of the athlete, as well as whether he is professional or not.
1) Basic medical recognition. This type of recognition should include:- Very careful personal and family history- Cardiovascular recognition- Respiratory recognition- Osteomuscular exploration- Joint examination that includes, at least, upper and lower limbs, and rachis- Mandatory basal electrocardiogram
2) Medical recognition for athletes with high physical demands without the need to be professionals. In this second level the medical study should include, necessarily:- Cardiological screening performed during normal physical activity with methods such as the cardiological screening of the Nuubo system- Biomechanical exploration of the march- Cineanthropometric exploration that accompanies a nutritional assessment
3) Medical recognition for athletes with high demands. At this level, a more extensive muscular and skeletal exploration should be carried out by the expert physician in Sports Medicine, which would include radiological examinations such as musculoskeletal ultrasound and a muscular screening system such as the tithomyography.. This technique will assess, in a localized manner, each muscle group and the differences of contralateral limbs and the same leg.
All these tests must be done with the aim of avoiding any type of incident or injury of the athlete during physical activity.
