One of the most common problems is the aesthetics having the protruding ears. Cosmetic ear surgery or otoplasty can solve this problem with a simple intervention that altered its position and shape is corrected.
The small surgery to properly position your ears prevents important complexes, especially at early ages. This is the only procedure performed to minors, from the 8 years since its operation does not affect the normal development of the child and does avoid psychological trauma. It is the expert surgeon in reconstructive plastic surgery, aesthetic and who must assess, after the relevant tests, if the patient's operation can be performed.
What is the process of otoplasty in operating room
Otoplasty is usually performed through an incision in the back of the ears, so that, after surgery, no visible scarring. From this incision reshapes the cartilage, causing them to fold at appropriate points and the depth of the shell is reduced, always giving priority to the main objective: to give a most natural look possible.
Also, to perform a local anesthesia is commonly used otoplasty, always in an operating room with all necessary guarantees, but not being essential to remain at the clinic. The approximate duration of the intervention is an hour and a half and three hours, depending on the case to be treated.
After surgery the patient is placed a bandage is kept for 24 hours. Once removed we recommend using an elastic band during night and day for a period of two weeks to prevent ear bend forward. In the early days the pain can be moderate, so analgesics should be administered.
The results of otoplasty are final and there is no need to intervene ears over the years. To be satisfied with the result it is essential that the patient understands that the ears can never be perfectly identical. However, they are very similar and much better shape and position prior to the intervention.
