In the center of the Breast Pathology - Tejerina Foundation are pioneers in the diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer.
It is the first center of Spain and Madrid to incorporate digital mammography in 2000, do the same with breast tomosynthesis in 2010 and, later, with tomosynthesis contrast, in 2015.
The last update was recently with the addition of the first team in the world of Prone stereotactic table with tomosynthesis (Hologic Affirm Prono), led by Dr. Alejandro Tejerina, specialist in Radiology .
Prone stereotactic table with tomosynthesis
In February 2016 he settled in the Pathology Center Mama- Tejerina Foundation's first team world prone stereotactic table with tomosynthesis. To date it has enabled more than 150 biopsies, all with successful results.
Advantages of prone stereotactic table with tomosynthesis
The advantages of this equipment are manifold, the most important:
- Improvements in image quality. This is achieved with a wider detector selenium and the ability to detect lesions and some only visible distortions tomosynthesis.
- Great advantages of software and ergonomics. This makes them much more comfortable and faster procedures for patients with a duration of between 15 and 20 minutes. They are fast, accurate and safe biopsies.
Advances in image quality of mammography
Mammography had improved in recent years its image quality thanks to the incorporation of digital mammography and later with mammography with tomosynthesis. This made the above stereotactic biopsy equipment remained, somehow limited to perform biopsies in certain injuries, such as clusters of microcalcifications subtle or only visible injuries tomosynthesis image (3D).
The image quality in mammography for the diagnosis had greatly improved. This allows to detect subtle lesions increasingly, since sometimes the image quality of the equipment is insufficient to locate biopsy.
