The labiaplasty or nymphoplasty is an intimate surgery aimed at rejuvenating the female external genitalia. It can be done, for example, a reduction of the labia minora when they are excessively large (hypertrophied) or if they have an anomalous shape (hanging or asymmetric) as they can even generate difficulties in sexual relations. You can also make fat fillings in the labia majora and the pubis, in order to increase the turgidity of this area.
Keep in mind that the loss of smoothness and volume in this area can lead to feelings of shame or embarrassment in some women when going to the beach, and even problems to be naked before your partner. In addition, the opposite technique can be applied, that is, extract excess fat in cases of large lips or pubis that have a lot of volume, to prevent the woman's tight clothing from marking that area too much.
The candidates for genital lab operations are patients with aesthetic or morphological alterations that seek an improvement in their genital appearance. This is caused because genetically, due to the passage of time, to some sports practice or to multiple births, these women have undergone stretching in the external vaginal area.
There are different surgical techniques depending on the cases that have to be treated. When the labia minora are to be reduced , the technique consists of removing excess skin and suturing the edges, but not all of the lips considered "large" are the same, which is why the most appropriate method should be used for each patient.
If the labia majora or bulging of the pubis are to be reduced , fat excesses are eliminated through the technique of liposuction, or because of the limited area, through miniliposuction, a simpler version than liposuction performed with thin cannulas that suck the patient's fat. And if it is necessary to increase the labia majora or the volume of the pubis (Monte de Venus), hyaluronic acid or its own fatty tissue (lipo-structure) is infiltrated.
There are also interventions to reduce the excess skin around the clitoris, through circular incisions and small sutures in the so-called "clitoral hood", thus leaving this delicate erogenous zone remodeled and more discovered in the face of sexual intercourse.
Once it has been decided to take the step of surgery, many women begin to feel nervous: there is no need to worry, it is normal to feel nervous. Remain calm and continue your daily activities normally, even with your sex life. First and as in any surgical intervention, a blood test, a chest x-ray and an electrocardiogram must be done.
I recommend that the patient stop smoking , tobacco is very harmful and the tissues will need extra oxygen to regenerate as quickly as possible, your health will thank you and your healing will always be better.
A few days before the date set for the intervention, it will be verified that the data resulting from the tests are sufficiently safe to continue with the process. If you are a healthy person, there will be no problem to perform the operation.
The day of the operation and the postoperative period
Before the day of the intervention it is normal to feel a little more nervous than usual, even so you have to try to sleep the night before as much as possible. In the morning, the body wash should be done with a neutral soap avoiding moisturizing creams, and the paint should be removed from the nails of the feet and hands, if they are worn. Once in the hospital, the area to be treated will be carefully cleaned to disinfect it. Then you will meet the team of anesthetists, and here the preliminaries of the intervention will begin. The labiaplasty or nymphoplasty is performed under local anesthesia with sedation , on an outpatient basis.
The first few days of postoperative period , the patient could notice some discomfort due to the inflammation that has remained in the area, it is normal, as well as the small bruises. Regarding the points, do not worry because the labiaplasty is performed with a suture in the vaginal mucosa with reabsorbable thread , so that these points are undone on their own. It is recommended to remain at rest between 24 and 48 hours after the operation, but you do not need to be admitted to the hospital for more than a few hours.
Return to routine
A few days after the intervention, the patient will feel increasingly stronger to recover their daily habits. At first you may find something swollen in the area, and you may feel numbness or pain with the touch of your underwear or sitting, although these discomfort will remit with the medication that will have prescribed. However, with the passing of the hours the recovery will become more and more evident and, in all likelihood, you will be able to resume normal activities approximately four or five days later.. In any case, yes you should avoid tight underwear.
You also have to know that each person has a different healing rhythm, so there is no general rule for all women operated on for labiaplasty.. Recovery will depend on this pace. Until the healing is completed, which will occur in four or five weeks, you must avoid actions that may damage the area involved, such as sex, or other activities such as riding a bicycle or horse. In addition, the intervened area must be kept clean, carrying a correct intimate hygiene , without products that alter the natural flora of your vagina.
