Within the transparent orthodontics there is an American system that is differentiated from the rest by its exclusive digital 3D computerized system of last generation that have revolutionized the dental panorama: Invisalign ®.
They are recommended in those patients who, due to their daily working life, require absolute aesthetics and comfort, as well as adequate oral health, reducing the risk of caries and periodontal problem.
The preparation begins with very precise molds, which have the shape of the arcade of each patient and which are made of a special material completely transparent.
Through a digital 3D reader they are able to capture the dental movements that are reproduced by making the entire sequence of transparent devices from start to finish. The teeth move until in a period of 15 days, it is changed and it is passed to aligner nº2, and so on until reaching the desired result.
Advantages with respect to the conventional system
As a great advantage over conventional equipment, it can be put on and removed without difficulty. In addition, their aesthetics makes them barely noticeable.
On the other hand, the forces that they release are much lighter and constant than with the brackets , avoiding the typical pain of each activation, as well as the typical chafing caused by any fixed system.. Nor does it affect the oral hygiene of the patient at any time.
Invisalign® offers the advantage of seeing how the patient is going to finish at the end of the treatment and an approximation of the months of treatment that each patient will require before beginning it.
The only drawback is the need to collaborate on the part of the patient: for the teeth to move it is necessary that the patient takes 22 hours a day the device. If not, the tooth stops following the movement.
There are several types of treatments according to the needs of each patient. In recent years, a type of invisible orthodontics has been focused on adolescents who are finalizing tooth replacement and seek an extreme aesthetic: Invisalign Teen®.
There is no type of risk with this type of orthodontics, but regular monitoring by the orthodontist will be important.
