Epiphora, more commonly known as watery eyes, is a form of persistent lacrimation. The patient must continually wipe the tears brimming and to fall down her cheek.
As there is a retention of tears, watery eyes can be associated with other symptoms such as redness and eye discharge and repeated infections of the lacrimal sac.
Nasolacrimal duct obstruction is the most frequent cause. According to specialists in Ophthalmology , mainly it affects women due to deterioration and progressive narrowing of the lachrymal. This pathway may have an obstruction to other levels as the canaliculus and / or the puncta.
There is no direct or indirect relationship to indicate that the use of screens or exposure to cause this disease lights. Tearing associated with screens and lights type may be more irritative or inflammatory ocular surface.
Treatment watery eyes
There is no effective preventive treatment. The recommended treatment is a type of reconstructive surgery of the lacrimal pathway known as dacryocystorhinostomy, which aims to establish an accessory channel of communication with the nostril. This surgery can be performed on an outpatient basis and by different approaches, either external or endoscopically.
