Revised orthodontic before 7 years? Early Orthodontics ?
Written by:Following the advice of the American Association of Orthodontics, in Ziving BCN we recommend that children receive their first orthodontic check before age 7. If we observe any problem it is important to correct them early. If the child really has problems it is advisable to start an early treatment, we are able to recognize potential problems and correct them before they get worse. This not only saves time for the family and their child, but also money.
Early orthodontic treatment, called interceptive orthodontics , has been shown to be beneficial for the desired overall outcome in the child's mouth. Because the young child's permanent teeth have not yet come out and therefore milk teeth are still present, we are in a position to thoroughly evaluate the tooth relationships from front to back and from side to side and solve the problems at its earliest stage and allow the child to develop normally and not allow problems to appear without treatment that will surely manifest later with the final teeth.
This treatment at this early stage is called a phase that usually treats the bone where the teeth are placed. After the eruption of the rest of the teeth, the placement of these will be evaluated and it is possible that a second phase of treatment that orders the teeth to have all the final teeth aligned.
Thus, currently, the presence of baby teeth does not prevent the initiation of early orthodontic treatment at all.. An early orthodontic treatment varies by patient, but may include removable or fixed appliances that can provide:
- a wider palate, more space for teeth that are too crowded
-preserve and increase the space for unerupted teeth, which have not yet come out
-create facial symmetry through the manipulation of jaw growth
-to favor the treatment that must be carried out in a second phase
-reduce the overall treatment time with appliances
