Facelift from own fat
Written by:Once again, the Baker Gordon Symposium has brought together in Miami the most outstanding cosmetic surgeons in the world to share the most important advances in surgical techniques for facial and body rejuvenation. And in what has been its 47th edition, autologous fillers with fat have focused most of the papers.
Among the main contributions, facial lifting techniques added to lipofilling have been highlighted, which use fat to recover lost volumes in the central regions of the face, which is the first phase of facial aging. The infiltration of fat is practiced in the first place and then the loose tissues of the face and neck are raised. Internationally, the tendency to resort to minimally invasive techniques is being imposed, responding to women's interest in a faster recovery without scars.
Within this same line, the advances have also focused on the preparation of fat by centrifugation to obtain two types of implants, one the " Microfat " consisting of the fat used for filling, and another the " Nanofat " that contains the maximum number of stem cells that with its regenerative capacity is used for the rejuvenation of more deteriorated or aged skin such as the neck and décolleté regions.
Younger women with less facial deterioration are the best candidates for facial fillers with their own fat (no need for lifting). Women or men who have greater facial deterioration, with fall and sagging of some areas such as the cheekbones or neck, they do need to perform in the same intervention, first the filling of depressed areas such as: nasolabial grooves, cheekbones, temples, area around of the mouth, lips and the mandibular line and, in some cases, eyelids. And then the lifting of the dislocated tissues such as the neck and the malar region will be performed.
Postoperative period and result
Recovery, in the case of treatment with fat infiltration only, is smoother because it is painless and the patient can go home several hours after having been practiced. The edema is less and the recovery lasts at most a week, being the most important feature not leaving any type of scar and achieving a very natural result. When the intervention has been mixed ( lipofilling and facelift ) the postoperative period usually lasts two weeks and sutures must be removed, although it is also painless, it is the most complete and advisable result in people who require it. The results are very good in both cases.
