What are the main specialties where they work?

We are specialists in issues that require the participation of the two disciplines (maxillofacial surgery and dentistry) as are deformities of the face, temporomandibular joint disorders, or treatments with the latest advances in implants.

There are many patients with bruxism and problems on the temporomandibular joint (TMJ). Pain when biting or chewing, sounds or crackles when opening or closing the mouth and headache are some of the most common complaints and are treated holistically, offering not only treatment with splints but with other products such as rich plasma factors growth.

We also received many inquiries by deformities of the face, besides requiring a skilled surgeon, orthodontists and cosmetic dentists experts to achieve excellent results.

Finally many implants are in demand, and it is that lack of teeth remains an endemic problem in our country.

We are referring to treat head and neck cancer. In clinical sessions tumors of the head and neck of our hospital, we met with other specialists involved (oncologists, radiotherapists, ORLS ...) to offer patients the best treatment available for you.

He has over 20 years of experience, and has had extensive teaching. What has made this commitment to training within your career?

As president of the Catalan Society and the Spanish Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery I have had the opportunity to meet many of the leading experts in facial surgery. I am convinced of the need for continuing education in the health professions.

It also actively participates in the scientific life of the specialty. What are the developments or trends that will shape the immediate future of your specialty?

There are three issues with which we will increasingly. Virtual surgery and the ability to plan and carry out a simulation of surgery with specific applications. Second, the application of bioinginería in our practice, such as the use of plasma rich in growth factors. Finally, the concept "less is more" minimally invasive surgery, such as the use of ultrasonic scalpel (allows an ultra thin and precise cutting without damaging surrounding tissue) or the use of botulinum toxin for problems that were previously treated with surgery alone ( pe. masseter hypertrophy).

It is common in conferences, national and international. What is the main message that listeners want to stay?

Oral and maxillofacial surgeons are experts in the treatment of diseases of the face, mouth and neck. We combine this specialty with teamwork with some experts dentists and premium location in a hospital in Barcelona.
