Speech therapy centers its action on disorders of voice, speech, language, hearing (hearing and understanding) and orofacial functions, both in children and adults.
It deals, therefore, with Human Communication, which is a fundamental aspect for people, as relational beings that we are. Every problem is implicit in this area, apart from the logical operational problems for everyday life, a whole series of derivatives in the physical, psychic and emotional plane, which, at times, can be more limiting than the initial disorder itself. The approach of this whole set of phenomena transcends the area of action characteristic of speech therapy given that it goes deep into the clinical field, and even within it it is difficult to provide homogeneous resources, since the intervention of different dispersed health professionals may be necessary. between the methodological, the philosophical and the operational, with the consequent loss of argument coherence.
In the DNA of Integrative Medicine (MI), as a synergistic discipline that links knowledge supported by scientific rigor coming from Conventional and Natural Medicine, it is considered as indivisible as a whole the physical, psychic and emotional aspects of the person, both in a situation of health as well as illness and always providing proactive attention to preventive aspects. For this reason, the IM can effectively and efficiently accept all of the aforementioned set of aspects related to speech therapy processes.
In our case, MI is structured around knowledge from Conventional Medicine, Speech Therapy and Natural Medicine, the latter in its aspects of: Acupuncture (Auricular-Acupuncture is preferred in children) / Traditional Chinese Medicine, Phytotherapy (plants) , Homeopathy and Medical Nutrition- as well as Neurosensory Stimulation techniques (Psycho-phono-audiology): Tomatís Techniques.
The fact that the MI is in medical hands is, in addition, a guarantee of efficacy and safety, since it avoids the potentially serious dangers derived from the professional intrusiveness of supposed non-medical naturopaths who do not know, for obvious regulated formative absence, the details doctors of the pathologies that can be treated (which are studied in depth during the career of Medicine, specialization MIR and its inherent continuing education), as well as the logopédicos details (except if it is speech therapist) and the behavior of conventional medical treatments and their interactions with natural remedies, which can sometimes be very intense.
