Orthodontics according to age
Written by:
For children
The first visit to the orthodontist must be made between 5 - 7 years. Since orthopedics also deals with problems related to the growth of bones, it is not considered to be later, since it is the best moment of growth to be able to treat some malformations in the jaws.
In many cases, an early diagnosis is key to achieve satisfactory results .
For teenagers
Adolescence is the time when you can start to perform orthodontics with braces , since it is at this age that all teeth have already been changed. This treatment usually lasts between 1.5 and 2 years .
For adults
Orthodontic treatments are becoming more frequent among adults. Currently, there are very aesthetic techniques that motivate adults to align their teeth, which, in addition to improving the oral appearance, also facilitates hygiene and chewing.
Some of these techniques are ceramic brackets, transparent aligners or lingual orthodontics (brackets on the inner side of the tooth).
Pre and post orthodontics
To start an orthodontic treatment, a previous study must be done to ensure that there are no gum problems that could be complicated by orthodontics.
The study consists of taking photographs, x-rays and models of the patient's mouth. Once the orthodontic treatment is performed, it is essential to maintain the results obtained. This is achieved with the placement of some retainers , always according to what the orthodontist indicates.
