However, liposuction is not a replacement or a synonym for weight reduction, but a method of removing localized deposits of fatty tissue that do not respond to diet or exercise. With liposuction, the surgeon has the ability to redefine the body to remove excess fat in these localized areas and on a permanent basis. Also, the patient should be aware that liposuction alone does not improve the areas of irregular skin known as "cellulite". Liposuction can be performed as a primary procedure to improve body contour, or in combination with other surgical techniques such as abdominoplasty, or thigh lift, in which also will tighten the skin relaxed and reposition the support structures.

According to the amount of fat to be removed and / or scope of the treated surface, the surgery can be performed under local, epidural or general anesthesia. The procedure may last from 20 minutes to 2 hours and the recovery will be virtually immediately for small cases.

Can I have liposuction?
The best candidate for liposuction is an individual of relatively normal weight who have excess fat in certain areas of the body. A firm and elastic skin leads to better final contour after liposuction. Sagging skin not readjusts itself to new contours, and may require additional surgical techniques to remove and tighten excess skin. In this type of liposuction it is essential that the patient during the surgical technique, is well hydrated to leave the clinic within 6 to 24 hours after surgery and begin to make a normal life, wearing a sash.
The first few days may feel a little tired and a little soreness similar to pain. The strip should be taken 24 hours a day and can be removed at the time of the daily shower.
Liposuction, postoperative
After liposuction, patients can resume exercise after 2 weeks, depending on the extent of the surgery. Placing a compression garment for a period of 4-6 weeks is recommended. The quality of the result will depend largely on the elasticity of the skin of each person before surgery.
It is very advisable to stay out of sun exposure until all purple and most have disappeared swelling, which usually happens in an approximate area of about 15 days. The results of liposuction are very satisfactory. They will be more visible as the months pass, since the loss of volume and skin remodeling will occur continuously and progressively to achieve a significant improvement in the line and a more harmonious body silhouette . The great news is that fat tissue is not capable of reproduction, so they will not come back in the treated areas.
