Elite and oral health
Written by:At first glance the health of our mouth seems not to have a close relationship with the sport of high competition , but there is such a relationship. Proof of this is that in recent weeks several national and international motor sports and soccer athletes have come to my clinic, all to improve their oral health and mouth aesthetics.
The health of the gums and supporting bone of the teeth are indispensable to show a healthy and lasting mouth in time. In addition, periodontal disease has been linked to decreased physical performance. And, of course, there is the part of security and confidence that brings a healthy smile. More if possible in the case of elite athletes who are exposed to cameras and are public figures in which their image and smile also play a role.
For the maintenance of oral health and prevention of pathologies, frequent visits to the dentist, whether an elite athlete or not, is highly recommended.. Regular visits to the dentist can save us more difficulties in the future. And not only for our oral health, periodontitis or pyorrhea is also related to a worse control of diabetes, higher risk of cardiovascular problems or premature births.
